Alberta Education’s (2024) Guide to Education Framework states that English Language learners require a learning environment that honours their home language and culture. Grounded in this policy, my classroom climate shows my commitment to not only creating safe spaces for my students but honouring different cultures.  My goal is to provide elementary teachers creative and innovative resources that build foundational literacy skills while validating and honouring student cultural backgrounds.

Language instruction involves having students being engaged with a variety of texts to offer students opportunities to expand their thinking beyond their personal experiences. As Alberta Education (2023) outlines that English language arts aims to spark imaginations, inspire a love for learning, and an appreciation and understanding of others. I created The Creative Literacy Hub to translate this mandate into actual, ready to use strategies that can empower both teachers and multilingual learners. Knowing that educators have a lot on their plate, my goal is to ensure students receive the best quality instruction possible by providing easy to access resources.
